32 dead, more than 70 injured in explosion near Wagah Border Lahore

14/11/02  LAHORE: – Deadly explosion in a roadside restaurant near Wagah Border Lahore has claimed 32 lives and has injured more than 70 people. Out of the injured, 34 are extremely critical. According to the source, explosion was caused by cylinder but could be a terrorists’ activity too. Rescue 1122 staff immediately arrived at the scene and started taking the injured to the Ghurki Trust Hospital in ambulances where they are being treated. that people are shifting the families by themselves but because of inadequate facilities at Ghurki Trust Hospital, some of the injured are being transferred to government hospitals.

Police sources have told that explosion was most probably caused by a cylinder but investigation regarding the incident has been started. Security forces and rangers have sealed the area. It is pertinent to mention here that hundreds of Pakistanis daily visit Wagah Border to watch flag ceremony at Pakistan-India border.

According to the eye-witnesses, explosion occurred exactly after the parade at Wagah Border ended. Emergency has been imposed in all the hospitals of Lahore in view of this unfortunate incident. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has demanded immediate inquiry report of the incident.
